Good Friday
Once again, we are partnering with RETREAT REFLECT RENEW to provide prayerful reflection, this time for the season of Lent.
Please join us via Zoom on GOOD FRIDAY, April 18th from 9:00 am to 12:30 pm for WITNESSES ON THE WAY. a communal, prayerful reflection on the people and the events of that day.
From Jesus’ sentencing before Pilate to his being laid in the tomb, various individuals are a part of his journey. During our time together each of us will be given one of these witnesses as a way to enter into the story with the eyes and heart of someone who was there.
Together we will learn about and share our witnesses using Scripture, quiet reflection, prayer, group sharing, and creative process. We will close our time together by gathering our stories into the larger narrative of the Passion, praying our way to the cross and tomb.
Please reserve Friday, April 18th, 9 am to 12:30 pm, Pacific time - click here to Register
Passion Sunday
A version of the above WITNESSES ON THE WAY has been adapted for the Passion reading and will be used at worship service Sunday, April 13th at United Lutheran Bella Vista in Bella Vista, AR .
You may join it live on Facebook that Sunday, 9:30 am CDT, or view the recorded version by visiting the parish website.
Previous Offerings...
ONCE UPON A TIME IN A TOWN CALLED NAZARETH, a perennial and popular Advent offering that invites participants to enter into the time and place before Christ’s coming, a rich reflection that uses myriad images of the Annunciation as a way to reflect upon the story. The 2024 version was offered via Zoom over three Wednesday mornings in partnership with RETREAT, REFLECT, RENEW. Past offerings have been Friday evening and Saturday both live and over Zoom.
AN ADVENT JOURNEY WITH THE WOMEN IN JESUS’ LINEAGE: Tamar, Rahab, Ruth, and Bathsheba. This provocative presentation uses the stories of these four women mentioned in Matthew’s genealogy of Jesus to provide insight and prepare our hearts for his coming. The Carmelite Friars of Boar’s Hill, UK invited us to offer this over four Sunday evenings in Advent of 2024, to a gathering of folks on both sides of the Atlantic. A time of deep and rich sharing.
MONDAYS OF LENT
Kathleen has created a Lenten online retreat, Mondays of Lent, as a gathering of community exploring How Then Shall We Pray? when we cannot pray together. Like bread from the oven, this retreat was created to feed us during the Lenten journey. Everyone signed up for the Newsletter was automatically registered for this event.
THE FIRST SUPPER
A day retreat exploring the timeless invitation to dine with Christ. Join presenter, Kathleen Kichline, M. Div. in considering the scriptural, historical, and theological significance of this eternal Eucharist/ Passover event—celebrated then, celebrated now.
STATIONS OF THE RESURRCTION
Let us go back to those first days after He rose. What was it like to encounter the Risen Lord? Using the various post-resurrection appearances, we will break open these scripture stories with creative imagination, song, prayer, and faith-sharing--closing with a unique Stations of the Resurrection.
